I met my ex-boyfriend while living abroad and, according to him, it was love at first sight. Everything went wrong when we moved in with his parents. On Christmas he decided to go on a trip with his friend. He met another guy who he had sex with. I went back and confronted him and it was not the person I knew anymore who I saw. It was a hateful and resentful guy who wanted nothing to do with me. I would like to be able to have a conversation with him again.

The Rules Revisited I’ve dated countless women and it has always amazed me how little they know about men. If nothing else, this blog is an outlet for voicing my astonishment at the typical female’s ignorance of the male mindset. At most, it is a reliable source of advice for women who want to improve their chances with the opposite sex. Monday, April 1, What Men Think of You Without Makeup There is no question that you look better with your hair and makeup done than you do without it.
Makeup is designed to make you look better; saying that it doesn’t is like saying that a fresh coat of paint on a house doesn’t make the house look better: In any case, although cosmetics give you an undeniable advantage when it comes to controlling your appearance , they come with the burden of deciding when and where their use is appropriate. The following points explain what men think about seeing you done up or in your natural state, so that you can better choose between the two when that decision proves difficult.
He cares about first impressions. Initial experiences leave an impression on the mind much deeper than most of those that follow; this is simply the way the human brain works. So make sure you are looking great the first few times you meet him; he will remember it. Note that I did not say that you should be looking “your best” the first few times you meet him. This is because it is always good to keep a little something in reserve.

Pick and choose the ones that seem right for you and create your own principles as a means of being a healthy dater who lives with integrity and follows his own values.
Before the Date When setting a time and place for your date, be sure to make it a short meeting hours for the first time and select a place that is either activity-oriented or allows for lots of opportunity to talk. Avoid movies and instead opt for a short get-together at a coffee shop or at the zoo. Take the emphasis off of it being a date and instead view it as a chance to meet a potential new friend.
Be cool and be yourself. Dress comfortably and in clothing that makes you feel good about yourself. Make sure you and your date are on the same page about the style of dress for your date. Even the most patient, connected, attached parents can reach the point when they are ready to hurl themselves out of the window from sheer sleep-deprivation-induced insanity. Anybody who has me on their facebook friends list will know that recently I have been dealing with some serious nightwaking, and I admit that at times always at 3am after the th waking of the night I have wondered whether I could continue in my efforts to never let my baby cry it out.
I am so very glad that we stuck to our principles and refused to train him. My oldest son, Monkey, was also seemingly allergic to sleep in the first year of his life, and I am proud to say that he also was never left to cry himself to sleep, no matter how many times he awoke it was a lot, by the way. This difficult stage in our lives has really made me think about why I make the parenting choices that I make. A side note — dealing with nightwaking is HARD.
I am not saying that we should all joyfully leap out of our beds a million times a night to tend to our babies, and I am all for gentle ways to encourage our babies to sleep better when they are physiologically and emotionally ready. They are crying because they need the comfort and love of a parent, and that need is as real and as valid as their need for food.

Dating Advice from Moxie and Roxie Monday, June 11, Greetings! Hi! We’re Roxie and Moxie, and we decided to start this blog because just a year ago, we were beginners at dating like yourselves. We were so mixed-up and confused by all the different messages we received about dating, we just didn’t know where to begin!.
January 15, I think we are well advised to keep on nodding terms with the people we used to be whether we find them attractive company or not. We forget all too soon the things we thought we could never forget. Photo by Nancy Elison Recently my daughter surprised me with a box of my old notebooks which had been stored for decades in the attic of her childhood home.
But here was the body of proof: In those days I was working as a legal secretary by day and aspiring writer by night, burning the candle at both ends because I was in my twenties and could, which explains why there are so many Latin legal terms jotted in the margins of my memories. As for all those heartbreaking leaps in the dark, romantic obsessions and daring misalliances, the majority of them have faded in their passionate intensity, leaving only such literary reference notes as a git lower than whale-shite on the bottom of the ocean and His knuckles scraped upon the sidewalk as he tried to walk upright… wisdom gleaned, no doubt, after a few evenings of Margaritas and nachos with sympathetic girlfriends.

A writer is someone who completes the act of writing: One really bad page.

Also surprising has been the hostility of some male readers to the simple advice I give women who are simply looking for a way to date with more self-esteem, and avoid needless heartache. Given that sometime hostility, the absolute BIGGEST surprise of all has been the number of straight, hetero men seeking out my coaching advice on how better to meet and date the woman of their dreams! When I first started getting these requests for relationship coaching from men, I carefully explained that a I coach women not men , and b I coach women in a very specific Rules-approach to dating.
Moreover, this approach is premised upon the differences between men and women, and I focus on the feminine side of the equation. I refer the men to my blog , where all of this is spelled out in black and white or at least fuchsia and lavender. Well, despite all this dissuading or because of it? After all, that would be The Rules!
